Boku no Imouto wa Osaka Okan

Boku no Imouto wa Osaka Okan

Release Date: December 21, 2012
Anime Production: Charaction

Summary Kyousuke’s younger sister Namika has been living apart from him for ten years. One day, she returns and begins to live with him again, but she has turned into an energetic tsundere Osaka girl.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Oh my another OreImo wannabe. Even though it’s only a 5min long anime with 12 episodes I don’t want to waste my precious time.
Sid This anime screams incest to me. She is a sister that hasn’t lived with her brother for 10 years and she returns as one of the most stereotypical romance character models. I’ll give it a go because you never know if will actually turn out to be what I expect, and it could be a pretty good comedy.
Hikaru With no real and deep plot that I’m looking for in anime these days, this one’s a definite pass.

Saki Achiga-hen Episode of Side A

Saki: Achiga-hen Episode of Side-A Specials

Release Date: December 24, 2012
Anime Production: Studio Gokumi
Trailer

Summary The final 3 episodes of Saki: Achiga-hen – Episode of Side-A.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Ah…I didn’t watch Saki Side A since it’s not related to the original story (an anime that I totally enjoyed btw) so it’s a pass for me.
Sid I didn’t watch the anime all the way through because I got bored, so pass.
Hikaru I haven’t seen any of the previous episodes so it’s a pass for me too.

Savanna Game

Savanna Game

Release Date: TBA
Anime Production: TBA

Summary The story follows a young man named Kazuya Shibuya who receives an anonymous email message out of the blue one day: “Won’t you join the Savanna Game?” The message is an invitation to a state-sanctioned killing game—a deadly role-playing game designed to motivate the inhibited youth of modern Japan. Shibuya and his two friends Kotegawa and Kudou find themselves in bizarre battles that span the space-time continuum, with everything from dragons to the Shinsengumi force of the shogunate era.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Eh? I still can’t find any info about this series. No seiyuu list or anime production. What a mystery but hey the summary looks interesting so yeah I might give it a try since I’m such a sucker for ‘kill or be killed’ story.
Sid This sounds pretty interesting. It can be really intense as well (or so I’m hoping). Besides, who doesn’t’ want to watch an anime with dragons in it? I can’t wait for the preview or production announcement. It might just get my hopes up even more.
Hikaru I hope this is not another series that is jumping on the RPG bandwagon. How different will this be from after Accel World, Sword Art Online, and Btooom!? I’ll give this a shot.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Oooh I love iDOLM@STER! I was really sad when the anime ended so thankfully this series is here to satiate my im@s craving.
Sid I watched iDOLM@STER and I loved it. I’ll watch this because I think I’m looking for anything that will pull me back into that fun and crazy world again.
Hikaru Didn’t see the original series so the spinoff doesn’t interest me either.

Ai Mai Mi

Ai Mai Mi

Release Date: January 02, 2013
Anime Production: eight bit
Trailer

Summary The story follows girls in a manga club —Ai, Mai, Mii, and Ponoka-sempai—who might be fighting evil invaders threatening Earth, facing off against rivals in tournaments, and dealing with other absurd situations when they are not drawing manga.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Not really a fan of anime shorts to it’s a pass.
Sid I don’t really see it being that great, but it has potential to be a pretty good comedy. I’m also not against shorts but if it doesn’t hook me on the first episode I’ll probably drop it.
Hikaru Not a fan of the story and the PV came off as kiddy for me. Pass.

AKB0048

AKB0048 Next Stage

Release Date: January 05, 2013
Anime Production: Satelite
Trailer

Summary Second season of AKB0048

Impressions
Chidori3souske
I plan on watching the first season but I’m struggling to find time to watch it. I still find the premise interesting but for now season 2 is a pass.
Sid Didn’t finish the first season because I got bored so another pass.
Hikaru Didn’t see the first and not planning to see the second season.

Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru

Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru

Release Date:  January 05, 2013
Anime Production: A-1 Pictures
Trailer

Summary Eita enters high school aiming for the National University School of Medicine. Because of his parents’ divorce—and his goal—he shuns anything to do with romance or love. One day, Masuzu, the school beauty with the silver hair who has just returned to the country, enters his life in a most unexpected way. Chiwa, his childhood friend since elementary school, will not let this go without a fight.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
So this is from a manga of the same title aka ‘OreShura’ from the author YUUJI Yuuji and it seems like a decent rom-com so I might give it a try. Oh man, looking at the Kamei, Kanta, the director of the series, his filmography (or is it animetography? oh gosh is there such a word?) his only notable work  is being a director of Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike and Usagi Drop it’s not that impressive but hey I like Usagi Drop and I think it’s a good series so yeah I’m going to give this a shot.
Sid I didn’t get too much from the trailer but the summary was a pretty good insight to the anime. If it ends up being a real romance it sounds decent enough and I haven’t seen a real romance in quite some time. I skipped out on quite a few last season for some reason. I’ll pick this one up and see how things go.
Hikaru A-1 Pictures has given us a lot of good titles this year (Tsuritama, Magi, Shin Sekai Yori) so how can I not look forward to this? It also has the same feel and look as the still ongoing Sakurasou na Pet no Kanojo so I’ll be watching this. Ryota Ohsaka, after his wonderful role as Yuki from Tsuritama, and now as Eita is another good reason to see Oreshura.

minami-ke

Minami-ke Tadaima

Release Date: January 05, 2013
Anime Production: feel
Trailer

Summary Fourth season of Minami-ke.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
What the -? This thing is still alive? I dropped the first season so this one is a pass.
Sid I watched the past three seasons and they weren’t bad so I’ll probably ending up watching this one till the end too.
Hikaru This must be a good title to have reached a fourth season? But since I haven’t seen any, I’ll have to pass.

Senran Kagura

Senran Kagura

Release Date: January 06, 2013
Anime Production: Artland
Trailer

Summary TV anime project of Marvelous AQL’s action game series Senran Kagura.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
From the director of FREEZING and Ikkitousen comes another anime with ‘dancing’ boobs and clothes stripping (Man I can’t believe it’s the same guy behind the story board of Death Note and a director of Shakugan no Shana). The seiyuu lineup is quite impressive from the likes of Imai, Asami, Kobayashi, Yuu, Kitamura, Eri and Gotou, Saori so I guess seiyuu otaku out there would definitely watch this series. Well I have to admit it’s a nice combination of ecchi, action and comedy but I just don’t want to watch shows like this.
Sid The trailer alone tells me that this isn’t an anime I should watch. Plus an anime based off of an action game usually doesn’t bode well because it’s more for advertisement than anything.
Hikaru That all girl main cast is very suspicious. Pass.

Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman

Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman

Release Date: January 07, 2013
Anime Production: TMS Entertainment

Summary The story takes place in Kyoto in the late 19th century. Manjiro has two faces. During the day, he works as a helper for people in Kyoto, but he also acts in secret to get back people’s properties from the men in power. As the get-backer “Roman,” Manjiro is getting involved in a nationwide conspiracy.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
This reminds me a lot of Robin Hood as the main character in this series steals from the rich and gives it to the poor and oppressed and it seems like  a Lupin the III of the 19th century from the looks of it and no wonder there since the the original character design is from Monkey Punch who is the person behind the designs of Lupin III. Ogura, Hirofumi is taking the helm as the director and seems like quite experienced in handling historical shows like Gintama and InuYasha so I guess this series is in good hands. The line up of seiyuus is also impressive with the likes of Kitamura, Eri, Suzumura, Kenichi, Uchida, Maaya, and Ogata, Kenichi so this series really looks good on paper. I’m a sucker for historical drama so yes I’m definitely going to check this out.
Sid Conspiracies? Secrets? Something about getting back at people? I’m in. This seems like an anime that can have a pretty solid story and some great character development. Hope it meets my expectations of being one that I follow this season!
Hikaru Not too fond of the lead guy who resembles Lupin III and I’m really not all into the historical genre either. Pass.

Zettai Karen Children The Unlimited Hyoubu Kyousuke

Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited – Hyoubu Kyousuke

Release Date: January 07, 2013
Anime Production: Manglobe
Trailer

Summary An original spin-off series centering around Kyousuke Hyoubu.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
I’m not really familiar with Zettai Karen Children but by looking at the protagonist’s profile seems like he is the antagonist of the original series and now in this spin-off series he’s the protagonist so he’s an anti-hero someone like Lelouch Lamperouge of Code Geass. Oh yeah that was interesting so despite the unimpressive background of the director and cast I guess it’s worth a try.
Sid If this is something I can watch without the original than I’m all for it. I’ll give it a shot and hopefully be able to pick up anything that I’m missing from the original series. It seems pretty interesting and even though I couldn’t understand the Japanese from the trailer.
Hikaru Didn’t see the original series so it’s a pass.

Senyuu

Senyuu

Trailer

However, it’s troublesome to find the genuine descendants, the king chooses 75 hero-like people. This is an adventure of Alba, the hero No.45, and an his monitoring fighter Ross.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Nah…another anime shorts so it’s a pass. Oh on another note Yamakan would be directing this so what the hell I thought he’ll quit after Fractale failed? Oh well that’s the entertainment industry for you…
Sid Even though the animation seems kind of kiddy it looks like it can be pretty darn funny. I’ll probably pick this one up and see if I can get a few laughs in.
Hikaru I haven’t seen a shounen adventure title in a while. Hiro Shimono (Akihisa Yoshii, Keima Katsuragi) and Yuuichi Nakamura (Oreki Houtarou, Soushi Miketsukami, Ryuusuke Hazuki) make an interesting lead duo. I’ll give this a shot!

boku-wa-tomodachi

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT

Release Date: January 10, 2013
Anime Production: AIC Build
Trailer

Summary Second season of Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
I totally enjoyed the craziness and wackiness of the first season so yes I’m looking forward to watch this series and get some ‘Meaty’ goodness wwwww. A guaranteed watch for me.
Sid I’ve been waiting for this second season for a long time so I’m definitely watching this one till the end.
Hikaru Haven’t seen the first season so it’s a pass.

Sasami-san@Ganbaranai

Sasami-san@Ganbaranai

Release Date: January 10, 2013
Anime Production: SHAFT
Trailer

Summary The story follows a hikikomori named Sasami who is unmotivated about even changing clothes or eating. Her brother takes care of her, even though she despises his slave-like nature. Sasami spends her days viewing the outside world via a “Brother Surveillance Tool” on her computer. In the outside world, the three beautiful Yagami sisters and Sasami’s brother are in the middle of relationships worthy of a romantic comedy.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
This is from SHAFT and Shinbou so I’m guessing this is not your typical rom-com series. I think this series is something that more than meets the eye specially with that PV I’m smelling something supernatural brewing. We got an impressive line up of seiyuu from the likes of Asumi, Kana, Saito, Chiwa, Hanazawa, Kana and Nonaka, Ai gosh I love the line up. The Script and Series Composition is by  Takayama, Katsuhiko who is responsible for the script & series composition of Ga-Rei: Zero and Mirai Nikki (TV), Scipt of Fullmetal Alchemist this series definitely has a potential. Another guaranteed watch on my list.
Sid Another unique sounding SHAFT production, of course I’m going to watch it. It sounds kind of neat watching a “romantic comedy” type relationship unveil through the eyes of someone who doesn’t even care about changing their clothes or eating. It seems like it will be one of those anime that will “inspire” the main character to go do something with their life and watching the lives of the three sisters.
Hikaru I hope this turns out to be something more than your average romantic comedy. Will give this a few episodes to try.

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru So Desu yo

Mondai-Ji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?

Release Date: January 11, 2013
Anime Production: Diomedea
Trailer

Summary Izayoi Sakamaki, Asuka Kudou, and You Kasugabe have tremendous psychic powers and are bored with the regular world. An envelope arrives for each person, and when each opens their envelope, they are stunned to see the scenery around them change to a world they had never encountered before. They’ve been summoned by the Black Rabbit to help the community “No Name” to overthrow the Devil King.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
The director and the writer’s resume isn’t impressive but we got some notable seiyuus here (Nakajima, Megumi, Arai, Satom, Igarashi, Hiromi, Nomizu, Iori) and a very cliché story I guess there’s a 80% chance this series will end up as a mediocre one so I’ll just pass on this one.
Sid It doesn’t sounds like the most in-depth storyline but the characters can make up for it. Probably the biggest reason I’ll check this out is for the main male character. You watch him stand face-to-face with a dragon without even flinching. Gotta love those characters who are just plain awesome.
Hikaru Izayoi Sakamaki could easily capture any fangirl’s heart! He is perhaps the only bishounen I’ve seen so far (of course aside from Chihayafuru’s Taichi and Arata). Character design aside, the fantasy-ridden plot and potential for conflict within another realm is interesting. This will be on my list.

Beast Saga

Beast Saga

Release Date: January 13, 2013
Anime Production: TBA

Summary Beast Saga takes place on a distant planet in our galaxy called Beast where three beast tribes, the Sea Tribe, the Land Tribe, and the Sky Tribe, fight for their honor. Each of the tribes protect an infinite elemental power source called Godlot.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Kiddy show so it’s a pass
Sid Seems a bit kiddy to me and I don’t really see it worth watching this season. Pass.
Hikaru Pass.

Hetalia The Beautiful World

Hetalia: The Beautiful World

Release Date: January 25, 2013
Anime Production: Studio Deen

Summary The fifth season of Hetalia.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
A good friend of my would be overjoyed with this new season of Hetalia but I still don’t know what’s the charm of this show since it keeps on getting a new season. Can anyone care to explain since I haven’t watch the previous seasons. Definitely a pass.
Sid Haven’t watched or heard of the first four so pass.
Hikaru I’ve been interested but never had the chance to see any of the previous seasons so it’s a pass.

GJ-bu Chuutou-bu

GJ-bu

Release Date: January 09, 2013
Anime Production: Dogakobo
Trailer

Summary TV anime adaptation of the GJ-bu moe light novel series, dubbed as the “first four-panel novel”, where each story is only four pages long with illustrations.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Not really a fan of 4-koma based series so this one is a pass.
Sid Sadly I didn’t get to watch the trailer because it says “Content unavailable” and the gallery wasn’t much help, but I’m always down to try something new. I’ll give this a go; it might be interesting.
Hikaru Not so much into slice-of-life so it’s a pass for now.

D.C.III ~Da Capo III~

D.C. III ~Da Capo III~

Release Date: January 05, 2013
Anime Production: Kazami Gakuen Koushiki Douga-bu
Trailer

Summary Third season of Da Capo.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Also a pass since the first 2 seasons didn’t caught my attention.
Sid Haven’t watched the first two, pass.
Hikaru Pass.

chihayafuru

Chihayafuru Second Season

Release Date: January 11, 2013
Anime Production: Madhouse Studios

Summary Second season of Chihayafuru

Impressions
Chidori3souske
OH YEAH IT’S FINALLY HERE! The long wait is almost over! I just love Chihayafuru and Chihaya’s struggle to befome the Queen as she face her own feeling and Arata and Taichi’s feeling. Oh my I just can’t wait to watch this!
Sid I honestly forgot how the first season ended but I do remember really wanting a second season so I’ll pick this one up and probably refresh myself a bit on the first season.
Hikaru Chihayafuru topped a recent survey on series to look forward to this season and for a good reason! Based on an award-winning shoujo manga, Chihayafuru offers great character development, beautiful art and character designs. I am still mesmerized by the stories hidden behind each poem of the Hyakunin-isshu and how it is effectively used with Chihayafuru’s plot. Will Chihaya finally realize her dream of being the Queen? Will she pick Taichi or Arata? A definite must-see title!

Hakkenden Toho Hakken Ibun

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun

Release Date: January 05, 2013
Anime Production: Studio DEEN
Trailer

Summary Five years ago, almost every villager of Ootsuka died due to a tragic plague. But mysteriously enough, three survivors: a girl and two boys, emerged. Now living in a church, the three live in isolation, hidden from those who may seek to find them. Shino, one of the survivors, has control over the power of Murasame, the blade of life. But when the imperial church seeks to take the Murasame for themselves, their peaceful life becomes a thing of the past.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Ooooh a reverse harem with lots of bishies. Well both Hikaru and I love bishies so yep, definitely gonna watch it I just hope Studio DEEN won’t ruin this adaptation since the manga is still on-going.
Sid I have nothing against bishies, I think there are a lot of great anime out there with bishies. I’m not really sure how this one will go but the story sounds interesting enough to give it a shot. I think I’ll give this one three episodes before making my decision.
Hikaru I always have reservations when it comes to watching an adaptation from an ongoing series whether it be a manga or light novel. But given the plot, character design (oh the bishie galore!), and seiyuu cast (Satoshi Hino and Hiroshi Kamiya), this goes to my list as well.

Cuticle Detective Inaba

Cuticle Detective Inaba

Release Date: January 04, 2013
Anime Production: ZEXCS
Trailer

Summary Private Detective Hiroshi Inaba is an artificially-created being, formed by splicing the genes of both a human and a wolf, who gains information by tasting and examining people’s hair, and pretty much has a hair fetish. He can transform into a more wolf-like form, and also gain special powers and perform different attacks depending on the type or colour of hair he eats. Formerly employed by the police and partnered with an officer, he now runs his own private detective agency with the help of his sadistic, cross-dressing secretary Yuuta (often mistaken for a girl), and Kei (a *relatively* normal teenager working part-time at the office. Ogino, the officer formerly partnered with Hiroshi, also often helps out with cases. His arch-enemy is Don Valentino, an evil mastermind goat with a taste (literally) for money, and a variety of messed up but extremely devoted henchman, including gentleman samurai Laurence, who always wears a bag over his head. Most chapters are individual stories revolving around Hiroshi and his friends trying to arrest the Don, always failing miserably.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Oh Japan and your over the top premise. Seems like this is going to be a fun series and wow look at that line up of seiyuus from the likes of Suwabe, Junichi, Irino, Miyu, Hikasa, Youko and Sugita, Tomokazu I think this is going to be awesome. Definitely going to pick this up
Sid After reading the summary I wasn’t too sure, but after watching the trailer I know I’m going to pick this one up. It seems like one of those anime that is going to have those “I have no idea where that came from” comedy in it which I have grown to enjoy. Inaba also seems like quite the character. I’m not looking for heavy story or great character background, just something to make me laugh.
Hikaru More eye candies and voiced by notable seiyuus to boot! With Junichi Suwabe, Miyu Irino, and Toshiyuki Morikawa, what more can we ask for? While the title in itself is a bit of a turn off, I’ll give this a try.

Ishida to Asakura

Ishida to Asakura

Summary Anime adaptation of the surreal gag manga about two high school boys, Ishida and Asakura.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Another anime short and I’m not going to waste my time since there’s lot of shows that is worth my attention this season.
Sid I like gag anime like Sexy Commando so I’ll give this a go. I’ll only give it one episode though.
Hikaru Pass.

Tamako Market

Tamako Market

Release Date: January 09, 2013
Anime Production: Kyoto Animation
Trailer

Summary Tamako is a mochi-loving high-school freshman whose family runs a mochi (rice cake) shop in a certain town’s shopping district. She enjoys her high school life with her friends Midori and Kanna in the badminton club. She also helps out at her family’s shop and develops new mochi.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
Seems like this is going to be like K-On! with it’s slice-of-life theme and I’m not a fan of it so this one is a pass. But to those who loved K-On I guess this one is worth a shot
Sid Sounds pretty boring to be honest, but I’ll give it a shot just like most of the other anime. It might end up being pretty. Iroha didn’t have the best storyline but I ended up really liking it.
Hikaru While I have loved KyoAni’s recent productions (Hyouka, Chuunibyou), I can’t help but be doubtful on a slice-of-life title. Will probably just give this a try.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

Maoyu Maou Yuusha

Release Date: January 04, 2013
Anime Production: ARMS
Trailer

Summary After a long and treacherous journey, our Hero finally arrives at the Dark Lady’s castle only to find himself being asked for help. The Hero explains how the war that the demons have brought upon the humans have killed thousands and put more in misery. The queen of demons however argues that this war has made the human society band together as one and showed empirical evidence how it has increased population, increased production, boosted economy and improved society overall. Furthermore, she explains to the Hero that ending this war will result in a civil war that will produce more bloodshed than there ever was. The Hero, convinced that the only way to bring peace, relatively speaking, is to join forces with the Dark Lady, agrees to help with her plans!

Impressions
Chidori3souske
What a thought provoking summary. Would killing the bad guy truly ends a war? That is a nice question and I would love to know the answer so I’m going to pick this up despite that it might have ecchiness in it since it’s being animated by ARMS.
Sid What is it with all the hero anime lately? This one doesn’t seem like a serious one either and I’ll probably give it a few episodes before making my decision but I don’t think it will be that great. It seems to be one of those boring pseudo romance, comedy, action anime.
Hikaru Based from an ongoing fantasy novel comes the story of the unlikely alliance between a Hero and the Demon Queen. But since this is produced by Arms (Hagure Yuusha no Estetica, Queen’s Blade, Ikki Tousen), I fear there will definitely be fanservice here. I hope Maoyuu will not follow that destructive path. Jun Fukuyama being the Hero has casted this title onto my watch list for this season.

Ganbare-Lulu-Lolo

Kotoura-san

Kotoura-san

Release Date: January 10, 2013

Summary A school love comedy. Kotoura Haruka is a 15-year-old girl who can read people’s minds. She has been suffering from troubles caused by her mind-reading ability, and her parents got divorced as a result. She moves to a new high school but tries to keep away from her classmates. Manabe Yoshihisa, one of her classmates, accepts and appreciates her ability and she begins to interact with her friends with his help.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
The summary didn’t caught my attention and even the seiyuu list is unimpressive since the only one I recognize is Hanazawa, Kana so this one is a pass.
Sid I’m pretty interested in this one. Probably the only thing that stands out to me is the art style. It doesn’t seem to be that great and I’m afraid that might take away a bit from the anime. It also seems more comedy than drama so that’s always a good thing in my book.
Hikaru Pass.

Amnesia

Amnesia

Release Date: January 07, 2013
Anime Production: Brains Base
Trailer

Summary On the morning of August 1, the heroine wakes up and discovers she has absolutely no memories of the past. A boy appears before her, and introduces himself as a “spirit” named Orion. The heroine struggles to regain her memories under the guidance of Orion. She then gets a phone call, but she does not recognize the name on her mobile phone screen. She meets her apparent “boyfriend,” despite not knowing his face.

Impressions
Chidori3souske
What a very interesting premise, lots of bishies and Nagi Yanagi and Ray would be singing the OP & ED song of this series and that’s something to watch out for. I’m just a bit over the fence here since game to anime adaptations usually sucks and with an unimpressive staff this might go downhill eventually. Oh well, might as well watch it since I’ll be able to feast my eyes on those bishies.
Sid A more serious anime this season that I’ll check out because it will give me a ‘break’ from comedy (if there is such a thing). It looks pretty interesting as well and I always did like those mysterious one word anime titles.
Hikaru Contrary to most anime based on otome games, Amnesia has a very promising plot. Bishounen are definitely a given and a solid voice cast (Kouki Miyata, Kishou Taniyama, Satoshi Hino, Tetsuya Kakihara) to go with it ensures this Brains Base production on my list.

Impressions
Chidori3souske

What’s up with anime shorts lately are they running out of funds or what? Pass.
Sid I’m assuming it was supposed to tack on at the end “hilarity will ensure”, or at least I hope so. Because if this anime isn’t mean to be a comedy it is going to be extremely boring.
Hikaru Pass.

Summary An original sci-fi action anime featuring a 14-year-old girl. The story takes place in a peaceful island filled with nature and technology.

Impressions

We’ve got impressive staff here the Director Takamura, Kazuhiro is an animator of Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Neon Genesis Evangelion and FLCL; the director of the no pants anime Strike Witches which I totally enjoyed so I think this guy knows what he’s doing. Oh I also found out that the character design is done by redjuice (one of my fave artist) so I’m definitely gonna pick this up.
Sid I like sci-fi but I don’t generally like sci-fi that have a young girl character. They tend to be either full of fan service or a little too goody-goody for me. I’ll give it a go because I’ve learned that surprises do happen. I’m thinking that this will be a drop though.
Hikaru Pass.

Love Live! School Idol Project

Release Date: January 06, 2013
Anime Production: Sunrise
Trailer

Summary Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara – a pop culture mecca that’s evolving by the minute; Kanda – a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo – a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students. With the school planning to close within three years, nine female students come together with one thing in mind—form a pop idol group to revive the school’s popularity and keep it from shutting down.

Premise is not that interesting and I can’t recognize the staff and seiyuus so I don’t know what to expect from this series. It’s most probably a pass for me.
Sid Another anime about creating pop idols out of high school students, how original. I mean cliché, yeah that’s the world. Sadly after watching iDOLM@STER this might not be a bad idea. The anime that have the plot of “preventing a school from shutting down” though don’t usually have the best results because it’s full of amateurs trying to make it big for a non-personal cause. I feel this always causes someone to not really understand the characters feeling or route for them as much. I mean, the school closes down the worst thing that happens is they move to another school, they don’t ruin their lives. A spot decision of becoming idols isn’t as intense as an entire life devotion or dream. I’ll see how this fairs with high speculation.
Hikaru No idol-making shows for me so… Pass.

        1. Hehehe yeah. They’ve definitely shown some quality stuff such as with the Monogatari series as of late.

Also I won’t be watching the whole thing (I always wait things out to see if it’s any good), but that first episode of Sasami was crazy… In a good way I think?

          1. That first episode was pretty crazy. I laughed a bit, scratched my head quite often, and even felt a little sad. I’m probably going to give it a few more because if I know anything it’s that SHAFT series tend to become really awesome 2-3 episodes in.
