TV Series
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Romance Release Date: July 7, 2015 Animation Production: Bones PV
Summary: The story of the original manga revolves around Shirayuki, a beautiful girl working as a medicine woman who has red hair, which is very rare in her country. When she is proposed and chased after by the prince of her country, she runs away, only to meet Zen, the prince of a neighboring country. Finding respect for the young man, she decides to serve at his side as his court doctor.
Impression:
Sid Not sure how I feel about the drama aspect of the series but I’ll give it a couple episodes to make my decision. The summary sounds interesting. The art style doesn’t look amazing but I think I can live with that after seeing all the characters in the PV. Hikaru Young girls have, at one point, dreamt of living a happily ever after with a prince in a fairy tale. But when our heroine runs away from a prince only to bump into another, I can’t help but be curious! Akagami no Shirayuki-hime has been on my plan to watch list since it was announced. Excited to see Ryota Osaka in another lead role as well.
Aoharu x Kikanjuu Genre: Action, Comedy, Slice of Life Release Date: July 3, 2015 Animation Production: Brains Base PV
Summary: When Hotaru moves into a new apartment alone, there’s a mysterious man standing nearby the apartment. Hotaru decides to confront the man, who turns out to live in the neighboring apartment. The next day at school, Hotaru’s best friend Kanae tells Hotaru that a host tricked her out of her money. When Hotaru goes to confront the host, he happens to be none other than Hotaru’s neighbor, Masamune?!
Impression:
Sid I wasn’t too impressed with the preview and I’m not sure what to make of the summary. I’ll give this one a couple of episodes before making my decision as well. Hikaru An unknown battle is being fought by bishounens! You definitely cannot count me out of that, especially with a yummy cast of seiyuus too! If the story holds, expect me to watch this until the end.
Aquarion Logos Genre: Action, Fantasy, Mecha Release Date: July 3, 2015 Animation Production: A new anime in the Aquarion series. PV
Summary: A new anime in the Aquarion series.
Impression:
Sid Never seen the Aquarion series, not going to start now. Hikaru Not a fan of Aquarion (except for the original’s theme songs) either so that’s a first pass.
Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Sen’eki Genre: Fantasy Release Date: July 2, 2015 Animation Production: Silver Link PV
Summary: The story takes place in the sparkling era year 3015, where the great nations Donatia and Kōran divide the world in a cold war as they fight for supremacy. In the middle of this standoff is island country Nil Kamui, which has lost its independence.
Impression:
Sid I’ve started to really enjoy war based anime because they often have a lot of politics involved. Throw it in the year 3015 with some cool action scenes and I’m sold. The art style doesn’t look the greatest, and I wasn’t a big fan of the bits of CG that I saw. Hopefully the story and characters keep it going. Hikaru The premise and graphics look really interesting indeed! Will give this a shot.
Charlotte Genre: Super Power Release Date: July 5, 2015 Animation Production: P.A. Works PV
Summary: The story centers around the special abilities that occur among a small percentage of boys and girls in puberty. Yuu Otosaka uses his power without others knowing, and lives a fairly normal, average school life. Before him suddenly appears a girl, Nao Tomori. Due to his meeting with her, the fate of special power-users will be exposed.
Impression:
Sid The summary is rather vague and sounds pretty cliché. The PV didn’t tell me too much other than the fact the guy seems to be really cocky and thinking very highly of himself. But that might be a godo thing as well since the series shrouds itself a bit more in mystery instead of giving everything away. A few select scenes in the PV made me think this one might actually be pretty good. And with P.A. Works behind production I’m not worried about the art style lacking. Giving this one a few episodes to make my decision. Hikaru The BGM attempts to give the PV a mysterious flair. This is not the first story of superpowered teens in a classroom setting but I will give it a few episodes try.
Classroom☆Crisis Genre: Comedy, Romance Release Date: July 4, 2015 Animation Production: Lay-duce
Summary: A romantic comedy set in a near-futuristic world about the troubles and tribulations of high schoolers on salary. With aims to one day reach out into the stars, humanity has colonized all the planets of the solar system. This story of young high school hopefuls is set in Fourth Tokyo in a Japanese Martian prefecture. Iris Shirasaki is a third year student/aspiring test pilot. Mizuki Sera is her peer/mechanic and Mizuki’s brother Kaito is their homeroom teacher and the young director of the program developing their talents.
Impression:
Sid Might not be such a bad romance comedy considering the plot is more than just “new person joins a school and everyone loves them”. I’ve started to enjoy anime that subtly add romance around an overall plot. It makes it seem slightly more realistic that love isn’t always at the top of everyone’s mind. I’ll give this one a few episodes as well, excited to see what Lay-duce is all about. Hikaru There might be more to this that the summary fails to tell us. Will give this a shot.
Dragon Ball Chou Genre: Action, Adventure Release Date: July 5, 2015 Animation Production: Toei Animation PV
Summary: The first new Dragon Ball TV series story since Dragonball GT. The story is set a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu, when the Earth has become peaceful once again.
Impression:
Sid I’m a Dragonball fan, I really am. And I’m actually rather excited to see a new story coming out past where I left off. However, I’m probably going to give this one a pass for watching it over the season and marathon it later. Hikaru Was never a Dragonball fan so that’s a pass.
Durarara!!x2 Ten Genre: Action, Mystery, Supernatural Release Date: July 4, 2015 Animation Production: Studio Shuka
Summary: A second season of Durarara!! is in the works. The story takes place a half year after the first series at Tokyo’s Ikebukuro neighborhood.
Impression:
Sid Yes! I’ve been so excited for this to come out since the ending a couple seasons ago. It ended with a big cliff hanger and the series has yet to disappoint me. Everyone needs to pick up Durarara! ASAP. Hikaru I’ve been holding off finishing the first season until this one. Will watch this, definitely.
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei Herz! Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy Release Date: July 25, 2015 Animation Production: Silver Link PV
Summary: This will adapt the second half of the 2wei manga.
Impression:
Sid Pass again. Hikaru Sadly, I didn’t finish the last season. I love the battle scenes but I’m not fond of the yuri undertones.
Gakkou Gurashi! Genre: Supernatural Release Date: July 9, 2015 Animation Production: Lerche
Summary: The story revolves around four girls who decide to stay over at school: the energetic Yuki Takeya, the shovel-loving Rumi, the center of the group Rurii, who brings everyone together, and Megu, the spacey school adviser. However, through mysterious circumstances, the girls find themselves the final survivors in a zombie attack, and continue to live at the school.
Impression:
Sid I… actually have no idea what this series is going to be like and without a PV it’s hard to tell. However, it sounds like it could be rather interesting. The characters and poster makes me think it is going to be rather funny too. Then again I’ve been very wrong before. Hikaru Pass.
Gangsta. Genre: Action, Drama Release Date: July 2, 2015 Animation Production: Manglobe PV
Summary: In the city of Ergastulum, a shady ville filled with made men and petty thieves, whores on the make and cops on the take, there are some deeds too dirty for even its jaded inhabitants to touch. Enter the “Handymen,” Nic and Worick, who take care of the jobs no one else will handle. Until the day when a cop they know on the force requests their help in taking down a new gang muscling in on the territory of a top Mafia family. It seems like business (and mayhem) as usual, but the Handymen are about to find that this job is a lot more than they bargained for.
Impression:
Sid Probably one of my most looked forward to of the new series. Stories of the underground have always been really exciting for me. With the PV and summary I’m thinking this has the potential to be my favorite of the season. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations. Hikaru The concept of “Handymen” remind me greatly of the Get Backers. However, I’m not too fond of this visual style so it’s a pass.
Gatchaman Crowds insight Genre: Sci-Fi Release Date: July 6, 2015 Animation Production: Tatsunoko Productions
Summary:
We want to know about ourselves About the fact there is no “society” in our “country” About “society” and “people” living in different worlds Feeling and reason What is crucial is “thinking,” not “worrying” Modern people are too “fast” — we breath shallow and quick “We” are terrible at being slow and deep
Impression:
Sid I’m actually a little surprised to see this, I didn’t expect Gatchaman Crowds to get a second season. Personally I enjoyed it, but I’m not entirely sure what this season would be about. I’ll probably go back and watch the last episode of the first season to make sure I remember everything that happened. Hikaru Didn’t watch the first season. Pass.
Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy Release Date: July 4, 2015 Animation Production: A-1 Pictures PV
Summary: The military fantasy series begins when a gate appears in Tokyo’s Ginza district sometime in the 21st century. From the gate pours out monsters, knights from middle-age Europe, and other fantasy-like beings, and they kill many of the citizens of Tokyo. This event is known as the Ginza Incident. The government sends a small group of soldiers from the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (a replacement for Japan’s military) to the alternate world beyond the gate. Led by otaku soldier Youji, they find that the villages in the world are being attacked by a dragon. An elf girl who is a survivor from the dragon’s rampage joins the group in their travels across the dangerous new world.
Impression:
Sid At first I was going to give this a pass since it sounded like another apocalypse type show with monsters pouring in from a different dimension. But after reading a bit further and watching the PV it looks like it could be a lot more than that. I don’t have high expectations but I’ll give it a couple episodes.
God Eater Genre: Action, Fantasy, Supernatural Release Date: July 5, 2015 Animation Production: ufotable PV
Summary: The Far East, 2071. The domain of the mad gods. In the early 2050s, unknown life forms called “Oracle cells” begin their uncontrolled consumption of all life on Earth. Their ravenous appetite and remarkable adaptability earn them first dread, then awe, and finally the name “aragami”. In the face of an enemy completely immune to conventional weapons, urban civilization collapses, and each day humanity is driven further and further toward extinction. One single ray of hope remains for humanity. Following the development of “God Arcs”—living weapons which incorporate Oracle cells—their wielders are organized into an elite force. In a world ravaged by mad gods, these “God Eaters” fight a desperate war…
Impression:
Sid The alone got me pretty excited for this series and the PV looked pretty bad ass. My biggest worry was the art style. While the characters and environment looked spot on the monsters were heavy CG. I’ll definitely pick this one up, but I hope that the art style doesn’t turn me off enough drop it because it does look like it could be pretty fun to watch.
Himouto! Umaru-chan Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life Release Date: July 9, 2015 Animation Production: Dogakobo PV
Summary: An anime adaptation of Himouto! Umaru-chan manga. The sibling gag comedy manga centers around Umaru, Taihei’s little sister who boasts beautiful looks as well as prowess in both school and sports. However, “Himouto” (beautiful little sister) has a certain secret.
Impression:
Sid I might watch this one since I don’t see many gag comedies lately, plus a new slice of life might be pretty fun.
Jitsu wa Watashi wa Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance Release Date: July 7, 2015 Animation Production: TMS Entertainment
Summary: The romantic comedy centers around Asahi Kuromine, who has a crush on a cute girl named Yōko Shiragami. Shiragami just happens to be a vampire. Asahi cannot keep a secret, but he is determined to keep Shiragami’s secret anyways.
Impression:
Sid Another romantic comedy with a bunch of girls? Will this one actually have an ending and will the other girls be there for comedic support or heavy drama? Guess I’ll give it a couple episodes to find out.
Joukamachi no Dandelion Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life Release Date: July 3, 2015 Animation Production: Production IMS PV
Summary: In the story, the everyday lives of the nine super-powered siblings of the royal family are monitored by more than 200 surveillance cameras and broadcast nationwide. The people of the nation who are watching the broadcast will have the ability to elect the next monarch. The story focuses on Akane, the third-oldest sister who can manipulate gravity. She is shy and desperately does not want to be caught on camera.
Impression:
Sid Definitely haven’t heard that plot before, but the PV didn’t give me much to go off of. I’ll only give this one a couple episodes before making my decision. Hoping it gives me a few good laughs along the way.
Junjou Romantica 3 Genre: Drama, Romance Release Date: July 9, 2015 Animation Production: Studio Deen PV
Summary: The third season of Junjou Romantica.
Impression:
Sid Pass.
Kangoku Gakuen Prison School Genre: Ecchi Release Date: July 11, 2015 Animation Production: J.C. Staff PV
Summary: Hachimitsu Private Academy was a revered and elite all-girls’ boarding school on the outskirts of Tokyo…once upon a time. But with the new school year comes a revision to school policy: Boys are to be admitted into the student body for the first time ever. But on his first day at Hachimitsu, Kiyoshi Fujino discovers that he’s one of only five boys enrolled at the school. Their numbers overwhelmed by the thousand girls in the student body, is it heaven or hell that awaits these five (un)fortunates?!
Impression:
Sid I admit I was thinking of Occult Academy when I saw the poster. Then I read the description and watched the PV… Yeah I’m passing on this one.
Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan Genre: Action, Fantasy Release Date: July 9, 2015 Animation Production: Diomedea PV
Summary: The story is set in a world where humanity, driven off the land by the threat of magical armored insects, now live in aerial floating cities. Thus wizards — aerial combat mages who fight the insects with magical powers — came into being. Kanata Age (Eiji) is a young man who lives on the floating wizard academy city of “Misutogan.” He was once celebrated as the “Black Master Swordsman,” the elite ace of the S128 special team. However, he is now despised as the “traitor of the special team.” One day, he is assigned as the instructor of E601, a team that has suffered 10 consecutive defeats. E601 has three girls — Misora Whitale, Lecty Eisenach, and Rico Flamel — with one or two peculiar quirks.
Impression:
Sid Nothing about the story seems that unique and the PV didn’t give anything to go off of. I’ll probably give this one an episode or two but I don’t have high hopes.
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou Genre: Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Romance Release Date: July 8, 2015 Animation Production: Lerche PV
Summary: Three years ago, the world learned that harpies, centaurs, catgirls, and all manners of fabulous creatures are not merely fiction; they are flesh and blood - not to mention scale, feather, horn, and fang. Thanks to the “Cultural Exchange Between Species Act,” these once-mythical creatures have assimilated into society, or at least, they’re trying. When a hapless human teenager named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a “volunteer” into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu’s job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life. Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. Even worse, when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in, what’s a full-blooded teenage human with raging hormones to do?!
Impression:
Sid I seemed like the series could be pretty funny but the ecchi in the preview alone killed it for me. I’ll be passing this one.
Non Non Biyori Repeat Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life Release Date: July 7, 2015 Animation Production: Silver LInk PV
Summary: Second season of Non Non Biyori.
Impression:
Sid I kind of liked the first season and I’m happy to see it back. I’ll give this one a watch as well.
Overlord Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy Release Date: July 7, 2015 Animation Production: Madhouse Studios PV
Summary: The story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as “the most powerful wizard.” The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.
Impression:
Sid It sounds to me like an excuse to make a game into a reality with no rhyme or reason as to why. However, maybe I can overlook that because it seems to be centered around someone who’s actually evil. I’ll give this one a few episodes before making my decision.
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace Genre: Horror Release Date: July 3, 2015 Animation Production: Lerche PV
Summary: The story takes place at a certain middle school where several murder cases take place. Kobayashi, a boy who goes to this school, meets genius detective Akechi, who comes to the school to investigate. The heroes suspect that someone among the seven is the enemy, and the initial suspicion falls on Adoretto.
Impression:
Sid I’m excited to see another action adventure anime. The characters definitely seemed unique and the thought that one of them might be a traitor gives it even more reason to watch. I’ll be keeping this one on watch this season.
Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX Genre: Action, Sci-Fi Release Date: July 4, 2015 Animation Production: Satelight PV

Impression:
