Seitokai Yakuindomo

Review: Not much to really say about this anime other than a couple key things. The summary suggests a typical perverted comedy. A single guy just entering high school for the first time that contains 90% girls screams awkward situations and harem. However, that was not the case. The guy was probably the only nonperverted person in the series. He actually had normal reactions to the all strange things his student council members were saying. Also, the term “slice of life” must be very loose considering most of the situations are not even close to anything I’ve experienced in real life. The art style was very pointy but the shading and lighting were nicely done. I really liked that they ranged from orange glow sunset to sunny blue skies. The story is just a lot of small segments with short jokes. There were times when I couldn’t stop laughing but others when I was laughing for the wrong reasons. Most of the time I was laughing because I was so confused it was funny. Possibly because I don’t have a completely perverted mind, a lot of the jokes were way over my head. I had no idea what they were getting at yet still found it funny. Strange how that worked out. There is a small hint of romance, but I doubt anything will actually come of it considering it is a comedy. There were some touching moments though. I liked that Seitokai Yakuindomo wasn’t completely ecchi even though the jokes were on the dirty side. It had its moments but for the most part the comedy came from dialogue not visuals. As a viewer against ecchi this was a huge plus for me.
Final statements: A pretty solid comedy if you don’t mind dirty jokes. You may not understand all the jokes but it is still a good laugh. My enjoyment level puts this at a preferred watch for someone looking for a quick laugh.
