First Look: Mitsudomoe

Title: Mitsudomoe Genre: Comedy, Ecchi, Slice of Life

Mitsudomoe

Summary: The 11 year old Marui triplets could not be any more different. The oldest one, Mitsuba, is sadistic and kind of mature for her age. The middle one, Futaba, is perverted and very athletic and has the strength of a full-grown man. The youngest one, Hitoha, is generally very quiet and gentle but when push comes to shove, she might just be the strongest, the most perverted and the most sadistic out of the three. The three are all in the same class, led by the newly graduated teacher Yabe Satoshi. He usually gets pushed around by the girls and, on occasion, abused but the triplets also try to lead him and the new school nurse, the clumsy Kuriyama Aiko, together. However, Yabe had no intention of dating Aiko and the methods the triplets use to accomplish their goal are highly unorthodox..

First look: I was scared to pick this one up considering the summary, picture, and general strangeness of anime about children younger than middle school. However, that fear changed slightly as I caught myself laughing at the awkward, sexual humor and strange antics of these three troublemakers. I do find that they made every kid a little too perverted for their own good. The sisters were difficult enough to follow, with no reasoning behind their perverted minds, but everyone in the class seems to fully support it except the nurse. Even so, the characters are quite well done. I enjoy the three completely different personalities of the sisters, clumsy, somewhat-normal nurse, and distressed teacher. Probably the best character of the bunch is the father. Every episode he has appeared in has made me fall over laughing. I don’t know what it is about this anime, but it brings a good laugh.

Final statements: Other than comedy this anime has nothing going for it. Some may find the age of the children a turn off, completely understandable. I feel a bit uncomfortable at times too. If you feel a little adventurous, try this one out. I wont guarantee that you will like it, but it wont hurt too much to watch an episode or two. I’ll be keeping this on watch and giving a full report at the end of the season.
