Summary: A second-year high school boy finds himself uneasy during Christmas time due to an experience in the past. However, this year at Christmas, he gets his last chance to ask out a graduating female senior named Haruka Morishima — or one of several other classmates. The story of the anime will be arranged in an omnibus format, with each heroine getting her own version of the story animated.First Look: Six different girls to choose from? Each one has their own story?! You get to see everyone win?! This anime is going to be amazing! BZZZZ. First off you should know that Amagami SS is based off a dating video game. That explains why a loser, self-loathing, crybaby gets a selection of so many girls. I admit that I didn’t give the second arc a chance because the first one really killed this anime for me. Heck, I even forgot that I needed to write a first look on it. About the only thing that shined about Amagami SS is the art. It wasn’t unique or anything, but it was very pleasing to the eyes. I do give credit to the voice actor for Junichi Tachibana, Tomoaki Maeno, who had to play the most annoying main character. He did a wonderful job making the main character seem like the complete loser he is with the perfect use of trembling in his voice. I really hope you get a better role in other anime Mr. Maeno. Probably what made this anime a sure drop for me is the comedy. I will admit that it was nice to have a change in pace from the sexual tension broken apart by a random support character scene, but that’s about it. Instead the anime brings awkward to a whole new level. I sat in my chair actually embarrassed for the main (fictional) character. The scenes didn’t make me laugh because I was so turned off by the character set for everyone. To mention specifics, behind the knee kissing, poor cat/dog metaphors, role-playing… I can go on but I think you get the point.
Final statements: I didn’t watch the second girl’s arc, but if it is anything like the first I’ll pass. The main character who will appear in every episode is bad enough already. If you are watching this anime and convince me that it gets better I may pick it up again. For now I’m dropping it from my list.
