TV Series
Aikatsu! 3 Genre: Music Release Date: Oct 02, 2014 Animation Production: Sunrise
Summary: The third season of Aikatsu! In place of Ichigo Hoshimiya who was the protagonist in the first two seasons (she will still be in the story as a supporting character), the new season will feature her underclass girl Akari Ozora with her classmates.
Impression:
Sid Haven’t watched the first two and probably never will. Pass. Hikaru I haven’t seen the previous seasons so that’s a pass.
Akatsuki no Yona Genre: Action, Romance, Fantasy Release Date: Oct 07, 2014 Animation Production: Studio Pierrot
Summary: Since Yona is the only princess of a grand kingdom, she has been raised with great care by her doting father and protected by her childhood friend/guard Hak and others. However, her fate changes on her 16th birthday, when her beloved cousin Soo-won murders her father to claim the throne. She flees the castle to Hak’s hometown and begins her new life.
Impression:
Sid It seems like it could be interesting. An action romance is long overdue to watch. Giving this one a shot. Hikaru I always love stories of women who rise up to a challenge for honor and glory. This is a yes for me!
Amagi Brilliant Park Genre: Comedy, School, Romance Release Date: Oct 03, 2014 Animation Production: Kyoto Animation PV
Summary: The “slapstick drama” begins with Seiya Kanie, a high school boy who is invited on a date in an amusement park by a mysterious beautiful transfer student named Isuzu Sento. He is introduced to Ratifa, a “real” princess and the park’s manager, and is asked to be the acting manager of this “disappointing amusement park in the Tokyo suburbs.”
Impression:
Sid An anime like this seems quirky and fun; a real hit or miss type. I want to give a couple episodes to see how the comedy pans out. Hikaru I love KyoAni but this story doesn’t seem that interesting to me yet. A pass for now.
Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo Genre: Mecha Release Date: Oct 05, 2014 Animation Production: Sunrise PV
Summary: Due to humanity obtaining the data technology that has evolved to a great amount- called “Mana”- the human race is able to subjugate all wars, starvation, pollution, and other problems on Earth by using its power, which is similar to magic. Earth has obtained the utopia of complete peace and no wants. First princess of the Misurugi Empire, Angelize. As with everyone else, she also had no wants or worries. She was celebrated by the people of the empire, and was supposed to wear the crown. However, she realizes the shocking truth that she is a Norma. “Norma”: An irregular existence that cannot use Mana, and are treated as heretics and as “things” rather than people. Having everything stolen from her, she isolates herself on a remote island. What was waiting for her there was a fateful meeting with a group of Norma girls who know nothing but battle. The girls spend their days riding humanoid robot weapons called “Barameiru” hunting giant dragons that have come from another dimension to invade. Having her name taken from her, what will soldier Ange see at the end of the fight? What can she believe in? What will she obtain? The story of a single girl’s fortitude starts now.
Impression:
Sid I like that it is a group of strong female leads, but the idea of ‘mana’ and ‘Normas’ just reminds me a lot of Break Blade. I guess the big difference is that this is a utopia instead of a land riddled with war. The PV looks neat, but the summary doesn’t seem like something that will hold my interest. I may give this one a shot, but already on the fence. Hikaru Rarely do we see titles that singularly portray women as strong characters. Another yes!
Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Genre: Romance Release Date: Oct 09, 2014 Animation Production: Hoods Entertainment
Summary: The story is set at Shiomi Academy, a vast, prestigious academy with a Daitoshokan (literally, “great library”) that rivals Japan’s national library. As a member of the Library Club, Kyoutarou Kakei goes to Daitoshokan to enjoy reading by himself. He then meets a second-year girl named Tsugumi Shirasaki through the efforts of a so-called “shepherd” who fulfills people’s wishes. Eventually, more girls join the club thanks to the “shepherd.”
Impression:
Sid Sounds like a poor harem to be honest. I think I’ll give this one a pass for the season. Hikaru I’ve grown tired of harem. Pass.
Danna ga Nani wo Itteru ka Wakaranai Ken Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life Release Date: Oct 03, 2014 Animation Production: Dream Creation
Summary: The anime follows the daily life of an earnest, hardworking office lady named Kaoru and her otaku husband, who is totally immersed in a certain huge net bulletin board system.
Impression:
Sid Seems funny, and I always enjoy a nice slice of life. Keeping this one on watch. Hikaru Lacks in story appeal. Pass.
Denki-Gai no Honya-san Genre: Comedy Release Date: Oct 02, 2014 Animation Production: Shin-Ei Animation
Summary: The “youthful bookstore comedy” revolves around the folks who work in a manga shop deep in a certain “Electric Town” neighborhood. (“Denki-Gai” or “Electric Town” is a popular name for shopping areas that specialize or used to specialize in electric and electronic items, like Tokyo’s Akihabara.) The protagonist Umio works part-time at “BOOKS Umanohone” along with his senior at work (but not in age) Hiotan. As many dedicated manga fans visit the store, there is always something going on.
Impression:
Sid Always have to give comedy a try. Never hurts to laugh. Unless you’ve had an operation I guess. Still worth it. Hikaru The first few seconds reminded me of Akihabara! But still, this is a pass. I’m not really into slice-of-life and comedy unless the story is really unique.
Donten ni Warau Genre: Action Release Date: Oct 2014 Animation Production: Dogakobo
Summary: In the eleventh year of the Meiji era carrying swords was forbidden by the government and those known as samurai were slowly fading away. However, there were plenty who didn’t like those changes taking place in Japan and inevitably the crime rates increased. The country’s only solution was an inescapable lake prison. Since the prison had no other way to access it except by water, the three boys of the Kumo family were assigned to transport the criminals to their new “home”. Although, is that the only thing they were doing…?
Impression:
Sid I can’t really get much from the summary and no preview, but I know that it’s gotten very high reviews on Manga Here. Doesn’t hurt to try out! Hikaru Time for some action in the Meiji era! I love the character designs and definitely interested in the story.
Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Genre: Action, Fantasy, Supernatural Release Date: Oct 05, 2014 Animation Production: ufotable
Summary: Adaptation of the 2nd route of the popular visual novel: Fate/Stay Night. In this route, Tohsaka Rin will be the major female character. Revelations about Shirou and his destiny will be made.
Impression:
Sid Still a loser and haven’t even started Fate/Stay. Pass. Hikaru This is Fate. No need to ask. I will be watching this to see more of The Archer.
Garo: Honoo no Kokuin Genre: Action Release Date: Oct 04, 2014 Animation Production: MAPPA PV
Summary: The Garo drama franchise has a dark story that revolves around humans that have the job of “Makai Knights,” people who fight against demonic beings called Horrors. The first television series in the franchise revolves around Makai Knight Kōga Saejima, who tries to save a girl named Kaoru from her fate of death after being tainted by demon blood.
Impression:
Sid I never saw the series and the story itself doesn’t really give me incentive to watch. I’m going to have to pass on this one unless I see Twitter blowing up about it. Hikaru Pass for now.
Girlfriend (Kari) Genre: Romance Release Date: Oct 13, 2014 Animation Production: Silver Link
Summary: An anime adaptation of the mobile game “Girlfriend (Kari)”, a game where the player has a girlfriend, has been announced.
Impression:
Sid The player already has a girlfriend at the start? That’s different. Think I’ll give it a couple episodes to see where it goes. Hikaru Not a fan of game-based anime so that’s a pass.
Grisaia no Kajitsu Genre: Drama, Romance Release Date: Oct 05, 2014 Animation Production: 8bit
Summary: The story is set in an academy that is a cloistered “orchard” for girls to be educated and cultivated away from external influences. Five girls spend their lives within these walls in repentance and atonement. Yuuji Kazami has just enrolled as the sole male student there.
Impression:
Sid Another harem anime? One guy with a bunch of a girls stuck in a school? I’m giving this one a pass too, just not feeling the drama romance harems. Hikaru Another harem, another pass.
Gugure! Kokkuri-san Genre: Comedy, Romance, Supernatural Release Date: Oct 06, 2014 Animation Production: TMS Entertainment PV
Summary: The original manga revolves around Kohina, a little girl who ends up summoning by a Kokkuri-san, a lower-ranking ghost in Japanese folklore. The Kokkuri-san she calls ends up being a white-haired handsome, young man. Although he had intended to merely haunt her at first, he becomes worried about her terrible eating habit of cup ramen for every meal, so he decides to haunt her in order to protect her.
Impression:
Sid Seems kind of cute, and might give me a couple laughs. Four episoder for this one. Hikaru
Gundam Build Fighters Try Genre: Mecha Release Date: Oct 08, 2014 Animation Production: Sunrise
Summary: The story of Gundam Build Fighters Try is set 7 years after the end of the 1st series, when Iori Sei and Reiji won the 7th Gunpla Battle World Championships. Now Seiho Academy’s Gunpla Battle Club has only one member, Hoshino Fumina, who is a third grade student in junior high. As the president of the club, she needs two more members to participate in the upcoming All-Japan Gunpla Battle Championships. One day she encounters a transfer student named Kamiki Sekai, who has traveled around for Kenpo training with his master. Then joining by a young Gunpla builder Kousaka Yuuma, their challenge to the Gunpla Battle begins…

Summary: Some time has passed since the end of the Universal Century, a history marked by space colonization and space warfare. Humanity’s prosperity, which ushered in a new era known as Regild Century (R.C.), was believed to endure alongside the global peace. It is the year R.C.1014. The Capital Tower is an orbital elevator that rose above the Earth’s surface and linked Earth and space. As the conduit of the Photon Battery energy source to the surface, it is regarded as sacred. Beruri Zenamu is in the middle of training for the Capital Guard (established to protect the Capital Tower), when the tower is attacked by G-Serufu — a highly maneuverable mobile suit with technology that is not from any known country. Beruri, who joins the battle in the maintenance mobile suit Rekuten, successfully captures the G-Serufu. However, Beruri feels something for the space pirate girl named Aiida Reihanton who piloted the G-Serufu. It is the same feeling he has for G-Serufu, even though he supposedly never seen it before. The G-Serufu, which should only be operable under specific conditions, is somehow started up by Beruri. The objective of Aiida and the space pirates who attacked the Capital Tower, and the fate followed by Beruri who was chosen by G-Serufu, will lead to truths that will shake the entire Regild Century era.
Impression:
Sid Long preview but it felt like a classic Gundam series. I’m sure that fans of the genre will jump on this, as for me, I’ll only watch it if time permits.
Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy Release Date: Oct 09, 2014 Animation Production: Bones PV
Summary: Second Season of Hitsugi no Chaika series.
Impression:
Sid I was actually hoping for a second season. I’m glad it’s coming out so soon. I might have to rewatch the ending to the first season to remember what was going on.
Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance, Supernatural Release Date: Oct 07, 2014 Animation Production: Trigger PV
Summary: The five members of the literature club awakened with extraordinary powers half a year ago. Although the members expected to be thrown into a world of super-powered battles at their school, their normal daily routine continued. No secret organizations bent on world destruction, no super-powered wars, no brave heroes or demon kings. However, the members still look forward to the possibilities of adventure, and continued to believe that with each day, they were getting ever closer to those days of fantasy. Their days of romantic comedy and battles with extraordinary powers begin!
Impression:
Sid This actually sounds like it could be pretty funny. What kind of world would it be if you had super powers but no actual use for them? I have to say though I’m more intrigued by the comedy instead of the romance. Keeping this one on watch.
Kaitou Joker Genre: Mystery Release Date: Oct 06, 2014 Animation Production: Shin-Ei Animation
Summary: In the story, there is nothing in the world that the mysterious phantom thief Joker cannot steal. He goes after one treasure after another in unpredictable capers with seemingly miraculous tricks.
Impression:
Sid I’m always down for a good mystery anime, and I feel like we’re long overdue for one. Going to pick this one up as well.
Kiseijuu Genre: Action, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi, Psychological Release Date: Oct 09, 2014 Animation Production: Madhouse
Summary: They arrive in silence and darkness. They descend from the skies. They have a hunger for human flesh. They are everywhere. They are parasites, alien creatures who must invade–and take control of–a human host to survive. Impression:
Sid I was against the idea at first until I read “conceal their lethal purpose” because that gave it an interesting twist. Plus any horror anime should be given a shout out. I’m going to be keeping this one on watch.
Log Horizon 2nd Series Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy Release Date: Oct 04, 2014 Animation Production: Satelight

Impression:
Sid Yes, yes and yes. I was doubtful when I first started but now I’m hooked. Very happy to see a second season!
Madan no Ou to Vanadis Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance Release Date: Oct 04, 2014 Animation Production: Satelight PV
Summary: Set in Western Europe during times of war, Eleanor “Ellen” Vertalia, one of the Vanadis of Zhcted, leads the battle into Brune. There are, in fact, seven Vanadis, named for having each received a powerful weapon from the dragon to individually reign over seven territories. The power of the Vanadis invokes dread and fear from their enemies. An earl in the service of the country of Brune, a young archer by the name of Tigre, experienced the Vandis’s power firsthand after being defeated on the battlefield by Ellen. However, Ellen chose to spare his life after witnessing his skills, but in exchange, he is asked to serve her.
Impression:
Sid I wasn’t very taken in by the PV, but war anime tend to have a couple select scenes that are worth watching. I’m on the fence for now, so let’s see how many I pick up before checking this one out.
Magic Kaito 1412 Genre: Adventure Release Date: Oct 04, 2014 Animation Production: A-1 Pictures
Summary:
Kaito Kuroba, a normal teenage student whose father is often absent. When his father dies under mysterious circumstances, he is made aware of his father’s secret identity; a famous international criminal known as International Criminal 1412: the Phantom Thief, and that he was murdered by a mysterious organization for refusing to aid them in retrieving the “Pandora Gem”; a mystical stone said to shed a “tear” during the passing of a particular comet (often called the ‘Volley Comet’), the consumption of which bestows immortality. He vows to prevent the organization from gaining immortality, and assumes his father’s identity as he begins his quest for the gem. His only clues as to the gem’s location are that it glows red under the full moon and that it is a doublet: a gem hidden within a larger gem. Thus, it would have to be a relatively large one with a bizarre history, and always stored in a place that never receives moonlight. He thus researches and steals famous priceless gems with odd histories from incredibly well-defended areas, and always returns them after the very next full moon.
Impression:
Sid I’m a fan of Lupin III and I know this isn’t like that, but criminal shows are fun. Maybe it will give me a little nostalgia kick.
Mushishi Zoku Shou 2 Genre: Adventure, Mystery, Fantasy, Supernatural Release Date: Oct 19, 2014 Animation Production: Artland
Summary: Second season of Mushishi Zoku Shou set to air Fall 2014.

Sid I’m sad to say I haven’t finished the second season yet but still picking this one up! Really love the series.
Nanatsu no Taizai Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Supernatural Release Date: Oct 05, 2014 Animation Production: A-1 Pictures
Summary: When they were accused of trying to overthrow the monarchy, the feared warriors the Seven Deadly Sins were sent into exile. Princess Elizabeth discovers the truth - the Sins were framed by the king’s guard, the Holy Knights - too late to prevent them from assassinating her father and seizing the throne! Now the princess is on the run, seeking the Sins to help her reclaim the kingdom. But the first Sin she meets, Meliodas, is a little innkeeper with a talking pig. He doesn’t even have a real sword! Have the legends of the Sins’ strength been exaggerated?

Summary: The story centers around Erika Shinohara, a vain 16-year-old girl who tells her friends about her romantic exploits, but she actually has no boyfriend. She claims that a handsome boy in a candid photo is her boyfriend, but it turns out that boy is a schoolmate named Kyouya Sata. She has no choice but to make him her fake boyfriend. Unfortunately, Sata may look like a sweet person, but he is actually an ultra-black-hearted sadist. Sata takes advantage of Erika’s weakness and treats her like his dog.
Impression:
Sid Eh this seems like it could give me a couple chuckles. I don’t see it being a side splitter though. If I can at least get a couple laughs in at the beginning I’ll keep watching.
Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu. Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance Release Date: Oct 10, 2014 Animation Production: Production IMS
Summary: Mitsuka Souji is a first year high school student who greatly loves the “twintails” hairstyle. One day a beautiful girl, Thuearle, who comes from another world suddenly appeared in front of him and gave him the power to transform into the twintails warrior TailRed. Now Souji, with the help of his childhood friend Tsube Aika who can becomes the twintails warrior TailBlue, must fight in order to protect the peace on earth.
Impression:
Sid Pass. Not really my cup of tea and it seems like it will be anything unique.
Orenchi no Furo Jijou Genre: Comedy, Fantasy Release Date: Oct 06, 2014 Animation Production: Asahi Production
Summary: Tatsumi is a high school boy who lives by himself. One day, a devastatingly handsome merman named Wakasa moves into the bathtub in Tatsumi’s home. Wakasa is a bit self-centered but cute, while Tatsumi is cool but a busybody.
Impression:
Sid Pass on this one too. I think I have enough comedies to keep me laughing this season.
Psycho-Pass 2 Genre: Action, Sci-Fi Release Date: Animation Production: Production I.G.
Summary: Second season of Psycho-Pass
Impression:
Sid Finally! If you haven’t picked up Psycho Pass yet I suggest doing that ASAP. One of the top action sci-fi series of recent years. Such a cliff hanger ending to the first season too.
Sanzoku no Musume Ronja Genre: Adventure Release Date: Oct 11, 2014 Animation Production: Studio Ghibli
Summary: The story is about a girl named Ronja who is the daughter of a chief of a tribe of bandits and lives in a huge castle in the forest with the bandits. The story follows Ronja as she encounters mystical creatures, makes friends with another young child like herself, and experiences life in the forest.
Impression:
Sid Seems more like a slice of life fantasy than adventure after reading the description, but I’ll give it a shot.

Summary: Girls with each of these feelings in their hearts are being swallowed into the vortex of a dangerous game…

Sid I actually ended up dropping the first season so pass.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso Genre: Drama, Romance Release Date: Nov 09, 2014 Animation Production: A-1 Pictures PV
Summary: Piano prodigy Arima Kosei dominated the competition and all child musicians knew his name. But after his mother, who was also his instructor, passed away, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a recital that resulted in him no longer being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing was perfectly fine. Even two years later, Kosei hasn’t touched the piano and views the world in monotone, and without any flair or color. He was content at living out his life with his good friends Tsubaki and Watari until, one day, a girl changed everything. Miyazono Kaori is a pretty, free spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her personality. Kaori helps Kosei return to the music world and show that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to.
Impression:
Sid I’m actually curious about this one because of the heavy role of music. I’m not a big fan of drama romances, and I’m hoping that it doesn’t follow the same tropes of girl likes guy, guy likes other new girl, second guy likes first girl, only two people end up happy. I’ll give this a go and see how it turns out.

Summary: Five girls chase their dreams. The story revolves around the everyday troubles and hardships that occur when working in the anime industry, and the results and conflicts that happen day-to-day among the group of girls.

Sora no Method Genre: Fantasy Release Date: Oct 05, 2014 Animation Production: Studio 3Hz PV
Summary: The story begins one winter day when the wish of a few girls was realized with a miracle, changing the landscape of a town. “In the skies above this town, a disc is always there.”

Sid A little too cute for my tastes, pass.
Terra Formars Genre: Action, Horror, Sci-Fi Release Date: Sep 27, 2014 Animation Production: LIDEN FILMS
Summary: With the space program attempting to travel to Mars, 21st century scientists were tasked with warming up the planet so that humans could survive on its surface. They came up with an efficient and cost effective plan of sending cockroaches and mold to the surface so that the mold would absorb the sunlight and the insect corpses would serve as a food source for the mold. It is now the year 2577 and the first manned ship to Mars has landed on the planet and the six crew members are ready for their mission. But what they find are giant mutated humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength. The crew members are easily wiped out, but not before sending a transmission back to Earth. Now, humanity will send elite warriors to exterminate the mutated bugs and claim back Mars
Impression:
Sid I’ve actually read a bit of the manga. It wasn’t too bad but I’m afraid that the anime is going to be saturated with censorship. I’ll give it a couple episodes and hopefully it’s not just a black screen for 30 minutes.
Tribe Cool Crew Genre: Kids Release Date: Sep 28, 2014 Animation Production: Sunrise
Summary: The protagonist Haneru is a middle school student who loves dancing. He can’t sit still, as he even feels the rhythm of the sound of chalk in class. One day after school, Haneru Hiryuu meets Kanon who is practicing dancing at a secret training facility. The two know the joy of dancing together with others for the first time and the happiness of seeing their own dance moves. Japan’s first full-fledged dance anime, depicting coming-of-age through meeting friends and dance battles with rivals, debuts!

Trinity Seven: 7-nin no Mahoutsukai Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance Release Date: Oct 08, 2014 Animation Production: Seven Arcs PV PV2 PV3
Summary: In the “romantic comedy but sometime serious magical school story,” life as Arata Kasuga knows it is wiped out by a bizarre incident known as “Collapse Phenomenon,” which causes worldwide destruction and takes his cousin Hijiri Kasuga to the next world. To resolve the “Collapse Phenomenon” and bring back Hijiri, Arata enrolls in the Royal Biblia Academy. Waiting in the school are seven beautiful female magic users — the Trinity Seven.
Impression:
Sid I wasn’t going to start this one up from the first promotional video, then the second one had me intrigued, and finally the third one made me worried. It seems like it could be decent if it’s not bogged down by ecchi moments. Let’s give it a couple episodes to see what path it’s going to go down.
Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete Genre: Romance, Supernatural Release Date: Oct 04, 2014 Animation Production: Feel
Summary: The story is set one autumn at the beginning of the 21st century in the Uchihama area. Uchihama Academy is growing by leaps and bounds. With the construction of a new school building, there will be one last General Club Festival at the old building that is slated to be closed. The students vow to go all out to make this final cultural festival a success.The Astronomy Club of the protagonist Sou Akiyama is filled with the big names on campus. Just before the festival on October 1, the club receives a request from the student executive committee to calm the uneasiness among the students. There are reports of ghost sightings, accidents, sleeping sickness, and other mysterious incidents at the old building. When Yui Furukawa, a quiet girl who transfered late into the school, appears before Sou, the gears of fate slowly begin to move.

Summary: A gate to another dimension has burst open, and from it emerge gigantic invincible creatures that threaten all of humanity. Earth’s only defense is a mysterious group of warriors who have co-opted the alien technology in order to fight back!
Impression:
Sid The summary is very common, but the preview gave it a little bit of an edge with cool 3D effects on what I assume is the manga. I was kind of hoping that the main characters weren’t in school, but what did I expect? I’ll give it a few episodes to see how the combat and character development is. I’m really not banking on the story being anything extravagant or gripping.

Sid I think I’ll give this one a go if I have time being a slie of life. Unfortunately the preview didn’t give me much to go off of, and all the characters seem pretty typical.

The girls must try their best to graduate without incident.
