It’s that time of the season again where I give you guys my impressions of how the current season in going, what to look out for, and what I will unfortunately be dropping. As usually I’ll be breaking this up into anime I think are worth picking up, on watch, and dropping.
Name: Shougo Kiryuu
Anime: Isshuukan Friends
Background: Shougo is Yuuki’s reliable best friend with good grades. He appears as a cold person who’s straightforward with words, and often sleeps in class while treating everything else as a bother.
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Slice of Life
Summary: Hidden within Kyoto is the “mirror capital” where youkai and humans live together and no one ever dies. It is protected by three people – Kurama, Yase, and Myoue – as they await the return of their parents, Myoue Jonin and Koto. One day a young girl named Koto (same name, different spelling) and her little brothers A and Un wander into the city from a different dimension looking for her mother. A mecha-geek with red eyes, it’s not immediately clear whether she’s human or youkai. Her arrival upsets the long peace that had ruled the city.
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life, Supernatural
Summary: Makoto is the fifteenth generation heiress of a small shrine to the god Inari. Her father is still the shrine’s priest, but Inari’s divine messenger, Gintarou, has appeared to Makoto, marking her as true successor. Gintarou has the ability to see a short distance into the future and to find lost objects, but is unmotivated and foulmouthed. In spite of this, he becomes friends with Makoto, and together they help those who come to the shrine.
